Research: Designing Tomorrow’s Mass Timber 2.0
Forest Forward is a science-driven company,
manufacturing glulam to the highest standards while researching even higher standards for Mass Timber 2.0 tomorrow.

Two Patents and Counting
Forest Forward R&D Program spends considerable time improving every step and material of the glulam process. Our current goal is to create a new glulam product that is:
- Stronger
- Less expensive
- More environmentally friendly
- Provides new economic opportunities
- Weather resistant

Forest Forward’s principal, Cory Hubbard, earned a Master of Science, Civil Engineering, specializing in mass timber and fire resistance.
Hubbard spent many years researching mass timber at Lakehead University before launching Forest Forward. He holds two patents on a new method of increasing fire resistance of mass timber joints. (Read more about the Canadian patent on the CBC website.)
That research continues today in collaboration with scientists and forestry companies who also want to build the Mass Timber 2.0 of tomorrow. Already, the company has had some promising breakthroughs to improve the manufacturing process and the final product. We’ll announce those breakthroughs here when they’re public.
